Exterior
This is a small palace set into the age-old walls of Barcelona that architect Rafael Moneo has converted into a five-star luxury hotel. It incorporates impressive archaeological remains from the 1st to the 19th centuries. They include tower-bastion number 28 of the great Roman wall that once surrounded the city, and part of the passage atop that wall which has now been turned into a library. The building incorporates Gothic windows, neoclassic balconies, 19th-century mouldings and medieval wooeden ceilings.

Superior rooms between 28-32m2 with views to either the ancient Gothic streets or the indoor orange tree large patio. Wood floors, exclusive furniture, glazed shower, designer in-room amenities in an elegant and relaxing ambiance.
Restaurant
Food is supervised by a renowned chef and its menu is a happy blench of market-fresh produce prepared with a slightly French touch. The hotel also boasts the Vermut Mercerino, an authentic tavern with a splendid selection of wines, cavas, tapas and sausages. And then there's the Negroni by Mercer cocktail lounge.
