This hotel is down a very narrow lane which is easy to miss. it was in a very quiet location. the room was very large and comfortable. bathroom was also very spacious and clean. breakfast was good with plenty of choice. plenty of eating places nearby and the water buses were at the top of the lane. very close to railway station.

I booked the abbazia hotel on the basis of a recommendatoin by a friend. i was not disappointed. whilst some people may think that it might be better to stay further up the grand canal, it didnt prove to be a disadvantage. you could either walk to the rest of venice or catch a ferry one way. it was also great to get out of the train station and walk about 2 minutes , without crossing any bridges to the hotel. its also not far to the bus station,, if you need to catch a bus to or from the airport. tha actual room was very pleasant with comfortable beds and a clean and new bathroom. it was also very quiet. the breakfast was very good with cereal, fresh fruit, a selectoin of meatand cheeses, cakes and pastries, coffee & tea. there is also a large garden . with the exception of one employee on the front desk, the service was excellent. thankfully the other front desk staff could not have been more helpful. overall , i would rate this hotel highly.

A haven of peace less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station or vaporreti stop [ferrovia] - don't worry about the comments about the bells. it's part of venice, and saves having to set a wake up call.
wonderful welcome from matteo and colleagues on reception; great humour. genuine concern when my wife was ill one morning.
we had a superior room, very spacious, clean, ac, safe, well equipped. great room with rare view [for venice] of garden. plenty of choice at breakfast. fantastic public room.
we will go again.

As soon as we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. the room was small but clean. we had a roof leak in the bathroom and were upgraded to a bigger room. there was also a bottle of sparkling wine on ice waiting for us, what a nice surprise! the continental buffet breakfast was good and you can have breakfast in the garden if you wish. we really enjoyed our 3 day stay in abbazia and we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone to stay there. the train station and bus terminal were just a short walk away and so was the water bus terminal. we will definately stay there again in future.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the railway station and the price. this location was combined with a peaceful environment (which has not always been our experience in venice!).
the staff were excellent - friendly and helpful.
the room (on the third floor) was reasonable, although the bathroom was a bit cramped.
the breakfast buffet was great, with the added opportunity to eat in a secluded garden.
the lounge/bar, in the large hall originally used by the monks/nuns who lived there was really comfortable.
the one drawback for us was having a room on the third floor, with no lift. as one of us has breathing difficulties, we should have asked for a room on the ground floor.
with this one reservation, we would make this hotel our first choice on our next visit to venice.

This hotel could not be more central for transport purposes, around the corner from santa lucia train station and the vaporetto stop.
the staff were friendly and very helpful the hotel is unique its appearence being a former abbey. but the room we stayed in had recently been modernised uncluding an incredible bathroom with double swower.
the only problem would be for older people with walking difficulties, as the hotel does not have a lift.

The abbazia is a great find. it is near the train station so makes life easier when arriving - no carrying bags on and off vaporetti. it is beautiful building, a former convent built round that rare thing - a garden in venice. the simple buffet breakfast sets you up for a days sightseeing and there is a bar in hotels huge lounge for a final nightcap. the rooms are quiet apart from the morning church bells! the staff are extremely helpful and very knowledgable.
this was my third stay here and i would happily return.
