Exterior
The Balbi Hotel is located in the city centre, 40 metres away from the Royal Palaceand the University (faculty of Letters, Political Science and Jurisprudence). The Old Harbour is only 450 metres from the Hotel. It is an area within what was called the old harbour, that is the area where they used to load and unload goods going to and coming from countries overseas. This area was turned into a tourist area for the 1992 games in honour of Christopher Columbus and several new attractions were set up: the Aquarium, the Bigo (sightseeing elevator), the De Amicis Library, the Biospèhere, the Cotone Congressi of Genoa, the Galata Museum of the sea, the children’s fun fair, the old Galleon Neptune, the Luzzati Museum, the Antarctica National Museum, the ice skating ring and the Marina Molo or tourist port. The Balbi Hotel is the ideal choice for all those who wish to visit the historical centre of Genoa and to discover all its 17th century palaces. The Hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from Garibaldi street, that has been declared UNESCO World Heritage because of its Strada Nuova Museums: Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco, Tursi. Nearby you can visit the splendid Palazzo Ducale (Ducal palace), De Ferrari square, and the Carlo Felice Opera House . A short walk will take you also to St.Lawrence street and its Cathedral and to the two areas in the historical centre called Piazza delle erbe and Canpo Pisano, that are famous for their typical coffee bars and night life.
Rooms
The Balbi Hotel has thirteen large rooms all with en suite services, satellite television, mini bar, air conditioning, heating and direct telephone line. Upon request you can have the automatic wake up service. Some rooms have the internet Wi-Fi net available. If you want to have access to it just ask for the password at the reception. The rooms are single, double, triple and suites for families; they are all finely furnished, warm and welcoming; on the right you can see a double room with a double bed. Please note the beautiful old fresco that decorates the ceiling and the furniture that makes the room so comfortable. The members of the Mondelli family are always pleased to welcome you and willing to make you feel at home. The nice and friendly owners, Roberta and Patrick, are available at all times and determined to make your stay pleasant beyond your best expectation. The check in and the check out: Guests can have the rooms after 2.00 p.m. and must leave them by 11 a.m. on departure day. Clients who wish to stay on in town until the afternoon will be given a chance to leave the luggage in custody at the hotel.
Restaurant
Breakfast is substantial and varied. Every day we serve fresh fruit and bread, jams, plum cakes, fruit juices, cakes, yogurt, biscuits and buns. The welcoming smell of hot croissants, the variety of our fresh cakes, the kindness and availability of our staff with their attention for details will make a good and cheerful start of the day, in the elegant dining hall with a beautiful ceiling fresco. Breakfast is served every morning from 7.30 to 9.30 a.m. in the hall next to the reception.
