Excellent: 4.7/5 More Details

Elegant hotel with excellent restaurants

We stayed 7 nights in a superior room in this lovely historic hotel.
reception staff were extremely busy at times but always professional, courteous, kind, informative and very helpful with local knowledge.
they make reservations for you which is very helpful if you don't speak italian

the room was large. the bed and linens very comfortable.
housekeeping was excellent - very unobtrusive; kept the bathroom well stocked, and everything exceptionally clean.

two very good mid-price in-house restaurants serving delicious food; useful if you are tired, short on time or don't want to go out. reception staff will make your reservation.
breakfast can be safely described as sumptuous; and the tables groaned with huge choices. not everyone seemed to realise that the toast comes out at the back; several days there was a pile of abandoned toast at the rear end of the toaster!

aware of my wife's birthday via passport at check-in, a gratis bottle of bubbly was on ice in our room on the day. now that's personal service!

the savoia is very accessible by the 6€ (may 2015) airport bus. stop name is piazza principe, only a 150m drag to/from airport bus stop. we took the airport bus back on saturday around 13:30; bus was right on time; only about a 20 minute ride on saturday. schedule displayed at bus stop; tickets from nearby tabacchis.

we did not use the spa/gym facilities; not something we do.

my only negative is the wifi was erratic, frustrating and very disappointing.
streaming anything like football (i do this all the time in my local pub) to a laptop was impossible.
despite a ‘status’ speed of up to 130mbps and a 3-5 bar signal strength, the stream kept stopping.

overall the hotel was very good and we would definitely return.
