The Marchesi Mazzei historic estate of Castello di Fonterutoli is located 5km south of Castellina in Chianti and sits on 650 hectares of land. The combination of four decades of research and extensive knowledge of the estate’s environment from more than six centuries of living and working at Fonterutoli has allowed Mazzei to select five main vineyard sites, each having a distinctive terroir. Today, the wines of Fonterutoli are world-renowned and are the benchmark of the Chianti Classico region. The continuous search for new challenges, and the unwavering quest for excellence has pushed the Mazzei family to expand its horizons toward new viticultural and wine-making frontiers, beyond Chianti Classico, into Maremma Toscana with their Tenuta Belguardo estate, and in south-eastern Sicily with their Zisola estate.
