Rooms
The Farm was built in the ‘800 and restored by respecting the original architecture; it has nine bed rooms, all with bathroom with shower. They have been furnished with poor arts, all with bathroom, hot water and heating. They have been named with symbols of nature (medlars, artichokes, oranges, mulberries, cherries, lemons, pears, olives, figs) which represent a part of the company production. The Farm has the architectural barriers which have been demolished to facilitate the entry to the disabled persons to all the parts of the building. At the entrance of the rooms, the symbols are in relief on ceramic basis and the same symbol is on the frame in the bathroom. For the guests of the rooms, at breakfast the Farm offers fresh milk, jams, fresh eggs etc., with bread baked in the firewood bakery, in the quiet, green and wonderful environment of the countryside, in which you can hear only the sounds of nature, of the fauna, the animals from courtyard, the call of the donkey to draw the owners attention.
Restaurant
The farm has a classical, local, simple and tasty Mediterranean cookery, with generous starters which exalt the biological production of the farm, with delicate first courses of fresh homemade pasta and main courses with genuine meat from local farming. It offers seasonal products which are dressed with the ancient natural dressing, the exclusive local olive oil. Ceramics is on the plates for dishes and on the jugs for the wine produced by the farm through hundred-year old varieties of grapes, such as “Nerello” and “Nero D’Avola” just taken from the wooden barrels. You can taste seasonal fruits such as the typical and tasty grapes, apples and water melon, figs, peaches, red oranges, prickly pears and other typical Sicilian fruits. Among the typical dishes: “I Cavati del Casale” with pistachios and almonds, homemade pasta with soft cheese (ricotta) and wild asparagus or with “macco” (Sicilian cream of broad beans) and the tastiest “Cassatelle di ricotta” as typical sweet in Caltagirone. At the end of the meals the farm offers typical sweets as the “Cassatelle di ricotta” , the “collorelle”, and Easter “Cassatelle”. In the farm there is a small laboratory where milk becomes typical Sicilian cheeses. Guided visits to Caltagirone and other interesting, cultural and archeological places such as “Villa Romana del Casale” in Piazza Armerina, “Morgantina”, “Kamarina” etc. Ceramic lessons.
Location
“Il Casale delle Rose” is a farm with more than 10 ha, situated in a wide valley, in the warm and quiet countryside of Caltagirone. It is surrounded by the greenery of the growing (orange and olive trees, vineyards) and offers a typical Sicilian cookery exclusively made by local and genuine products. Among the typical dishes: “I Cavati del Casale” with homemade pasta, pistachios and almonds, the little pig whole and stuffed, the tastiest “Cassatelle di ricotta” as typical sweet in Caltagirone. The building has been restored by respecting the original architecture (typical Sicilian Baglio that was a typical building in Sicily at the end of ‘800). It offers 9 rooms, all with bathroom with shower, one spacious dining room and two smaller rooms as restaurants and meeting rooms. Only 2 Km far from the inhabited centre, it proposes an exclusive typical and local cookery, made by genuine products from the farm growing (biological growing according to the European regulation).
