Exterior
From the top of Monte Titano, the central peak of the world's oldest republic, the endless view stretches west over rolling mountain ranges to the borders of Tuscany; east over Romagna's coastal plain to the Adriatic, and north and south to the Appennines, Italy's backbone. The great castle, that for centuries guarded the liberty of this tiny land towers above you, and below the steep cobbled streets of its capital wind away, ending at cliffside ramparts. Further below still, level after level of honeyed stone houses and church towers descend to farmland dotted with tiny villages, each one clustered around its central fortress. San Marino, formerly kown as San Marinous was founded in 301 AD by the country's Eponymous patron saint, an exile from Dalmatia long before the Croats arrived there. For over a thousand years, as far back as the historical records go, the Sammarinese have been a free, independent community. Never in history has this country been ruled by a king, duke, or lord, but always by its own free citizens. The heart of the civil governement of San Marino is the Palazzo Pubblico, a white stone tower rearing over the cliffs of Monte Titano. Soldiers in ornate, brightly - coloured uniforms guard the massive doors of the Palazzo. On feast days the heads of the state, the two Captains Regents of the country, lead the members of the Congress of State and the Great and General Council, the tiny republic's Cabinet and Parliament, in solemn procession to the Basalica of San Marino to give thanks for the continued preservation of the land's ancient liberties.

The rooms are equipped with all the modern facilities of a four star hotel including interactive satellite televisions, Pay- Tv, direct phone line, air conditioning, private mini bar, digital safe, High speed internet access, which is also available through the TV system. Guests can choose from four different types of rooms, all different in shape and size. Some rooms have balconies with panoramic views of the Apennines while others are interconnecting. There are also rooms equipped for disabled guests. All rooms are tastefully decorated with parquet flooring and warm decor. CLASSIC ROOM: The classic rooms are equipped with king size beds, a writing desk and a large and well organized wardrobe. SUPERIOR ROOM: the superior rooms are all recently restored with balcony and panoramic view. Chance to have adjoining rooms. DELUXE ROOM: All these rooms are stylish and relaxing so that guests can spend unforgettable moments. The rooms are large and have a balcony facing tha Apennines . Beds are twin or king size. There is a bedside phone, and a writing desk. Each Deluxe room offers many comforts: fresh fruit daily, complimentary use of mini bar, free access to the gym, sauna and Jacuzzi located in the beauty centre , secure parking in our garage, welcome drink upon arrival, discount shopping card. APARTMENT SUITE: This suite is composed of a large bedroom, two bathrooms, a spacious sitting room and a large terrace with a breathtaking view. The sitting room is furnished with two closets, one of which can be used to store luggage. In these rooms there is a choice of king size of twin beds. Our buffet breakfast offers a wide selection of home made pastries , designed to suit individual tastes, health food requirements are also catered. For lunch and dinner you can choose from an original menu, fixed menu or a la carte whixh is a creation of international and regional dishes prepared by our chef. To compliment the various dishes, the restaurant offers the finest selection of wines. Fireplace Lounge: This lounge has 200 seats and is the ideal place for organizing weddings, gala dinners, and banquets. During the winter season tables are arranged in front of the glowing fireplace,and our chef is at your disposal if you require a personalised menu. Messegue Lounge: For guests who want to remain healthy there is the private restaurant lounge of the Messegue beauty farm, where you can try the low calorie dishes prepared by our chef. Our American bar is the ideal place for relaxing while taking a coffee, an aperitif or a simple snack. Located in the centre of the hall, the bar provides a sociable and elegant environment where our staff will be delighted to serve appetizers, traditional English afternoon tea, international wines and cocktails.
