Friendly staff but dated decor and facilities

The hotel is in need of updating. i stayed here in the 80's and from what i can remember the decor and furnishings are the same now as then. it has definitely seen better days. i don't want to be negative as the staff are very friendly but there are things that need addressing.
for:
good sized pool with very few people using it and plenty of (old) sunbeds around it.
reasonable breakfasts.
full size fridge in room.
clean rooms
free air conditioning in rooms
friendly and helpful staff
bus stop into town right outside
against:
miserable dark wood everywhere and 1970s/1980s soft furnishings
pool bar not open (looks closed down)
bedroom doors are very thin and noise travels along corridors
reception and adjoining bar feel sadly empty and i didn't see anyone use the bar during the time i was there
location used to be popular part of town but now a bit rundown.
