Denmark, officially United Kingdom of Denmark, is a Member State of the European Union and the state's smallest and most southern Scandinavia. Denmark borders both the Baltic Sea to the North Sea, where it joins with Norway. The country consists of a large peninsula, Jutland, which borders Germany, in addition to a large number of islands, the surface of Denmark looks like one big plain with the morainic hills of modest height. The now famous capital Copenhagen, now famous all over the world, is located on the island of Zealand and partly on the Amager.
The climate of the country because of the proximity to the North Pole, is characterized by low-pressure areas and is influenced by the Gulf Stream: Due to the proximity of the sea, the summers are warm and winters relatively mild. The best time to visit the country is from April to late October, when rainfall and temperatures begin to get cold. The coast, thousands of miles long, is fringed by beautiful beaches and with its fjords, gulfs, straits, like a magnet attracts all those who love nature and the outdoors. As soon as you enter some 'inward, that's soft hills, forests, lakes and streams, a beautiful landscape that changes with the seasons. The official language is Danish, the best known foreign language is English.
The capital, Copenhagen, is situated to the east of the country, always with an Atlantic climate. The city is mostly history, a city church, Vor Fresler Kirke is a great place to get acquainted with the city: the bell-tower of nearly 100 meters high, and if you exceed the dizzying scale the view of the city is remarkable. The most famous attraction of the town is the statue of the Little Mermaid, depicting the protagonist of one of the most famous fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. The graceful bronze statue placed above a rock near the shore, which through its beauty attracts many visitors. Other attractions are the Nationalmuseet (National Museum), where you can see some Viking finds most important; the Christiansborg palace, located in the center of the capital; the Copenhagen City Hall; Fountain Gefion, which depicts the legend of the birth of Zeeland; to spend on a pleasant walk to Nyhavn, the old harbor of Copenhagen, features all the colorful houses.
