The hotel was built in 1900 and renovated in 2003 and comprises a main building with 4 floors with a total of 40 apartments. Facilities include a lobby with reception, a lift and a café. The hotel also has a TV room and a bar.

The hotel has a small modern facade and entrance on a traditional side street.

All the rooms are brand new and in excellent condition. The decor is modern with bright pastel colours; either green or blue, with light wood furnishings. The rooms vary in size from medium to very large. The bathrooms are also in excellent condition.

Restaurant

A light continental breakfast in the rooms is served on the tray in the minibar. As the hotel is located in Edinburgh's bar and restaurant district there is no shortage of alternative dining options.

Nice location, shame about everything else.

The hotel is ideally situated in edinburgh, it is close to the castle and shopping centre.

unfortunately it is very tired and dirty. the bedroom was very small. in the bedroom there was a fridge which didn't work, we mentioned it to reception and they said that it should have been removed when the hotel stopped doing breakfast - which was 3 years ago!

we booked via hotelsclick, when we got there the receptionist told me that it would have been much cheaper if we had booked directly with them.

Every one was nice however your advertisement said that their would be breakfast provided and they said that they had stopped that a while ago. we paid for that service!

False economy

This hotel does not have a kicthen which makes it impossible for them to honour the breakfast deal they supposedly include in the price. the rooms are not bad but we were very dissapointed with not gettign what we promised or paid for

Enjoyable stay

I've stayed in this hotel 3 times now and always find it comfortable and central enough along with being reasonably priced. the rooms are spacious and clean and i will probably stay here again.

Excellent value for money

Hanover hotel ticks all the right boxes for a short stay,location is the key in edinburgh and this hotel has it all.its by no means the ritz etc! our room was 405,massive,the other guys said there rooms were normal size,luck of the draw.edinburgh hotels are very expensive,the hanover hotel is a gem in the heart of the city.
