This is a perfect choice for the young and young at heart in central Zurich. Since this is a gay-friendly hotel (both owned and run by gays) the decor might be considered rather too flamboyant by some. The building also houses a gay nightclub which is open until the small hours and is rather noisy.There is not a restaurant in the hotel as guests can choose from the numerous typical Swiss restaurants in the old city. Breakfast is served in the rooms by a maid (guests should fill in an order form before going to bed to specify what they want and when they want it, and then hang it on their door.)
The Hotel Goldenes Schwert on Marktgasse 14 is centrally located and within a short walking distance from the main train station, or the famous “Bahnhofstrasse”, with it’s many boutiques and department stores. The lake and it’s beaches are as close as the many bars, restaurants and night clubs the city has to offer.

Bedrooms on the whole are small. The majority have recently been refurbished with new, modern furniture. Many rooms feature hand painted murals and wild colour schemes while others are simple and basic. Both the rooms and the bathrooms (some of which are also flambouyantly decorated) are in good condition.
