The lobby and reception area are quite large and decorated as the rest of the public areas with very good taste.

Nh podium is in a good location about 10 minutes walk from the el born/old town area of barcelona. the breakfast was very good with lots of choice and was available for a long period of time (weekends 7-12). the room was very clean and was perfectly comfortable. the staff were helpful when i emailed before i arrived to arrange dinner reservations. there is a taxi rank outside of the hotel (helpful when you need a tax) but the drivers congregate there all through the night and chat which at 5am is perfectly audible in your hotel room. the rooms were also incredibly hot and the air conditioning did not seem to work very well at all - it was easier to open the window to cool down than use the air con.
if you had a room on the opposite side of the hotel i'm sure the noise would be much improved.
not a bad hotel for the price and staff service, breakfast and location all good.
