Large open air lobby that overlooks the swimming pool, there are seating areas on the lower lobby.
Exterior
A low rise building that is hidden amongst tall trees common to Borneo. The hotel is mostly white with black roof. It is design very much in a resort style with two wing flanking in towards the swimming pool.
Rooms
The hotel has 120 spacious guest rooms and suites, with a homely atmosphere. Each is equipped with all the latest comforts including a colour tv with in room movie channel, built in mini bar refridgerator, IDD phones. For added privacy two floors are allocated to the Renaissance Club. Guests may enjoy complimentary breaksfasts and happy hour drinks and the lounge offers newspapers and books and a seperate small board room for business meetings.
Restaurant
The hotel has a variety of eating outlets. The Plantation cafe offers an array of local and Western delicacies and the Ming Restaurant serves authentic oriental dishes. In addition guests are offered the Amadeus Music lounge, lobby lounge and Illusions Discoteque. The hotel has a poolside BBQ every Friday evening and guests may sample local delicacies at the Sunday Hawker Market. .
Location
The hotel sits on top of the hill overlooking the town of Sandakan. Yet it is accessible by a 15 minute walk to the town below. Sandakan is a small town on the East of Borneo that is the stepping stone to the rest of Borneo - the world's last unspoilt rainforests of "the land below the wind" (below the typhoon belt). Sandakan airport is a 20 minute taxi ride with excellent connecting air service via Kota Kinabalu (35 minutes flight) from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Hong Kong.
