This 5 star hotel is located in the suburbs of Agrigento and was established in 1972. It is close to the Valle dei Templi. Situated within the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples, which UNESCO has declared a world heritage site, Villa Athena stands only two hundred metres from the Temple of Concordia. The Hotel has a restaurant. All the rooms come with: air-conditioning, Lcd TV, telephone with a direct line, free internet access, mini-bar, safe, hair dryer, wake up service/alarm clock. The hotel Villa Athena offers 27 marvellous guest rooms, that have been designed in order to enhance the comfort of each guest. All accommodations feature a queen or king size bed (depending on the room type), or twin beds, living area with armchairs and desk, LCD flat screen satellite TV and bathroom decorated with Sicilian marble, with shower or bathtub. Rooms offer a view over the city or the Temple of Concordia, or boast a private small garden. Luxury guest amenities in the suites also include 2 LCD TV, cashmere blankets, DVD player and Play Station. Some suites also boast a jacuzzi tub. Elegant and refined

The view of the floodlit greek temples was superb (thankfully there was no view of the industrial monstrosity that is agrigento a couple of miles away). the hotel gardens were a delight and i am sure the pool would have been lovely but not in the thunderstorms that accompanied our visit. an elegant hotel with old-fashioned service.

Outstanding

The reception manager was extremely welcoming, smiling joking, and then said he would upgrade us to a superior room from a standard to "make our stay more enjoyable"
and although the room needed some upgrading the view overlooking the greek temples from our huge (shared but no problem) terrace was breathtaking
gardens and pool were beautiful lunch at the outdoor restauant was superb
an absolute must for any visitor to agrigento
