Depends on where your room is located

Nice hotel in downtown dublin. you can walk to everything but driving here is a bit tricky. staff were great. breakfast was great. our first room was in the front on the second floor. it has a vent that could not be lcosed int he window so lots of street noise and music from a club until well after midnight. the front desk was kind enough to move us to the sixth floor int he front which was much better.

Brooks of dublin

A very welcoming hotel situated in a nice area of the city close to all amenities. only a short walk to the shops, theatre, cinema, river and bars and restaurants.
very clean and well kept, only critisism would be the bedroom was a little smaller than expected and slightly cramped in the en-suite especially getting in and out of the door. lovely comfy beds and a choice of pillows.good choice of food at breakfast and nicely cooked.

Fantastic short stay in dublin, the city of your dreams!

Have just come back from a fantastic two day break. fell in love with dublin immediately and the hotel was perfect in every way. it is very stylish and deserving of it's 4 stars. we had a deluxe room which was lovely, but having peeped into the standard rooms, these were just as nice. the hotel staff were all very friendly and welcoming. the breakfast was lovely and included kippers which is rare these days!

we did check out the resident's lounge in the basement -it was beautifully presented and a great place to relax if you had the time!

the hotel is tucked down a little road off grafton street and is perfect as a base. it is also in a relatively quiet location - i can imagine that it would be very noisy to stay on o'connell street or in temple bar - worth remembering if you are staying at the weekend! we could walk to o'connell street in about 10/15 minutes and it was flat all the way. we were also a very short walk away from temple bar itself. the nearest bus stop from the airport is by the tourist board office in grafton street - air coach. air link will take you as far as o'connell st,. for 6 euro single or 10 euro return. very efficient transport into the city from the airport.

we bought a ticket for the red tour bus which was 14 euro each. this is great value and well worth it. we visited the goal and jamesons whiskey factory and really enjoyed both, especially the goal.

as for eating and drinking. well, there is such a huge choice that you will probably waste a lot of time just trying to choose! the only thing i would comment on is that it is all quite expensive, especially alcohol, but i suppose this is typical of all cities these days. whatever the cost of the alcohol (guiness is £4 a pint!), the one thing dublin has is the fantastic atmosphere. dubliners are such warm and friendly people - they make you feel so welcome and of course they play great music! most bars and pubs have live music at some point during the day/week and you must experience it. temple bar is very atmospheric and you must take a look, but do bear in mind that food and drink is at a premium. there are plenty of typical irish bars and pubs away from temple bar which the locals tend to use and are therefore less expensive.

shopping? don't get me started on that one! there is everything from inexpensive high street shops all the way up to designer level. bring plenty of money and a bag to carry it all home in!!!

i think it is always a good indication of how much you have enjoyed yourself somewhere if you check dates for another visit as soon as you get home! i hope this has been helpful to you and i wish you an enjoyable stay in lovely dublin

Great location!

Lovely hotel in a great location, meant we could walk everywhere we needed to get to in dublin. fantastic breakfasts, with big variety of fresh food, but we ate much more than we really needed!

some of the other reviews suggested that rooms could be noisy, so we opted to upgrade before our arrival, which guaranteed us a room at the back of the hotel on the top floor, and 2 unbroken nights sleep!

the only downside was the poor water pressure in the shower. forgot to mention it to staff until we were checking out, and the reception were most apologetic about it.

overall a lovely hotel which i would highly recommend and would definitely stay at again.

Little gem in the centre of dublin but still very quiet!

We have stayed in few hotels in dublin but this is certainly the one we will return to!
it is just off the main shopping area in grafton street which is just a couple of minutes walk. despite this the hotel was very quiet at night.
on arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade to a superior room which was quite spacious and extremely clean.
breakfast was fantastic - plenty of choices for everyone.
highly recommended for anyone wanting a hotel close to all the action, yet very quiet at the same time.

Staying at brooks with geordie friends!

We ahve stayed at brooks before and liked it mainly due to its convenient location. it is a small hotel which we like. last time we had a room facing the back of the hotel which was quiet, but this time we were facing the road. our window didn`t close properly, in fact one of the hinges was completely detached!this meant that it was very noisy until about 4am one morning after a nearby club closed. we could hear people shouting and swearing in the street below. we reported this to reception and they said they would sort it that day, but they didn`t.
