Could be better

Good location - only 10 minutes max walk to grafton street - but the hotel felt sterile and impersonal, more like a hostel than a hotel. although helpful, none of the staff on reception were irish or able to help with local knowledge. at breakfast, there was a (reasonable) help yourself buffet but none of the staff who occasionally wondered in bothered to acknowledge guests in any way, not even a 'good morning' - the staff even started moving furniture and sofas from an adjoining room while we were having breakfast, bringing them right through the dining room and inches from our heads. the bed was extremely confortable and the room cleaned to a decent standard. the room itself was tired looking and the furniture in need of updating. the shower was also tiny, even for me and i am 8 stone and 5 foot 2. for one night though, at £55, it was ok.

If it's only about location, it's a winner...

...but if you expect working plumbing, a working phone, enough light to apply make-up, an elevator that is big enough for more than 1 and 1/2 people and won't scare the pants off you when you're in it, feeling secure while in the room or that your things are safe while you're out of it...this is not the hotel for you. if you have a room at the rear of the hotel, you will be participating in the nighttime revelry going on below in the outdoor portion of the nightclub attached, and since you do need to keep your window open, it can be a problem. on friday night it ended at about 4:30 a.m.

the 3 good things about the hotel are a pleasant staff that attempts to assist you (although none of our concerns were addressed), free parking (although you leave your keys at the desk and they shift the cars as necessary so if you're concerned about potential damage to a rental, it's not a great solution) and the location (2 blocks from st. stephen's green/4 from grafton street! and a block from the air coack to dublin airport). for the price, i suppose it's about the best you can possibly do.
