The hotel was built in 1897 as a fish market within the Viktualienmarkt. The current dining hall of the hotel was originally a market hall: hand-crafted doorways, various frescoes and the marble encased walls are reminiscent of the time when fish was sold here.The Hotel Am Markt is situated in the pedestrian area of the Viktualienmarkt market place in Munich and is just a 1-minute walk away from Marienplatz.
