Wonderful birthday weekend

We stayed at the mercure to celebrate our son's 20th birthday as he is on a scholarship with siemens and his apartment is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. we arrived early on friday and we were able to leave our luggage in a secure room while we went off to 'explore' . also the u7 station is right outside the door so it is on a direct link from schoenfeld airport. we found the staff very helpful to the point that, when we informed them we would be leaving before 6am on the monday they volunteered to make us a packed lunch for on our journey home, at no extra cost. we speak very little german and there was always a member of staff available who spoke english. the breakfasts on saturday and sunday were first class! our only criticism was that the bath towels were not changed on the sunday. it was the 2nd time we have stayed but the 1st we have included breakfast. on the whole, we would recommend it and we will be returning
