Weekend break in february

Was a fantastic location very close to shops, restaurants and bars.
great breakfast.
staff very helpful and friendly.
room in need of decoration but comfortable and clean.

Stay at the monkbar

This hotel is of a good standard wioth very welcoming and helpful staff. didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar food was ok. room was warm and spacious with all you need including a biscuit with the tea and coffee maker, something i find expensive hotels don't do, best western does, good for them!
the location is ideal for the city centre attractions of york and is about a 15 minute walk from the railway station.

A hotel with its own car parking spaces in the middle of a city like york is rare, and a definite plus. nice enough hotel - lovely staff, especially in the dining room (though the receptionist may have been having an offday, or even an off-hand day!) - but rather rabbit warren like with twisty winding corridors with several sets of stairs to navigate before i could locate my room. phew, good job i'm a gym bunny or i'd have been exhausted! there's a lift, but it was still a long treck! nice dinner, the dining room wasn't busy (despite the dire warning from the receptionist that i might not get a table, despite it being an hour and a half before last food orders!) and the staff were attentive but not overly so. great breakfast choices, too. room was a bit jaded and in need of refurb. but the bathroom was fabulous!
