2nd visit

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel - when we arrived there was a wedding in the hotel & it was extremely busy. when we went to our allocated room we discovered it was a double room even though we had been very specific when booking the room that the room must be a twin room as we were 2 friends travelling together. it was obvious that the hotel was going to be very full due the wedding guests staying in the hotel however we were given a single loft room, which i took & my friend stayed in the original double room. my loft room was very small but quite adequate for my need for one night. the room had been newly renovated & very tastefully decorated & was very cosy. a week later we came back to the hotel again to stay for 5 nights & were allocated a newly renovated & very nicely decorated twin room which i must say was very compact for 2 women with quite a lot of luggage & was up a lot of stairs with no lift. the hotel is a maze of lots of areas with rooms on different levels with a lot of narrow stairs to get to them. the hotel was convenient for us as my friend's daughter lived nearby & it made it easy for us to visit her. if you were going to do a lot of sightseeing in & around london & you did not want to waste time travelling you would want to be closer to the city but i must say i found being out of the rush of london very nice & there were lots of restaurants & pubs within walking distance of the hotel.

1st stay at best western lodge

We were given a fairly small twin room with a minute bathroom in what appeared to be the non renovated part of the hotel. unfortunately the shower did not work so we were upgraded to the wimbledon suite for the night which was a huge room with a great bathroom. the breakfast, which was included, was very good & the staff were obliging. the breakfast rooms overlooks beautifully kept gardens which must be stunning in the summer.
