Parliament house hotel review

My wife and i have visited the parliament house hotel several times and still find it a great place for weekend or longer breaks. the hotel is central but in a quiet area and is near restaurants, theatres, cinemas and lots of places of interest. i would rate the hotel between 3 and 4 star.

Good hotel

Stayed in this hotel before in a great room on the fourth floor which is why we returned, sadly we got a rather small double room on the ground floor this time! room on both occasions was spotlessly clean, downside this time was the ability to hear the people in the room next to us running their shower and doing the toilet and people in neighbouring rooms just letting the room doors slam shut regardless of the hour. the reception area of the hotel is very warm and welcoming, with an open fire and comfy armchairs to relax in and all the dining room staff are very nice. all round a good, reasonably priced hotel in a great location.

Review

We were allocated a room in the basement which was a room for the disabled, except it had a proper bath (where disabled would not have been able to have used it) and too much furniture in the room to allow a wheelchair user to move round the room.
breakfast was good except from my wife ordering a fish dish & having to wait for what seemed to be forever for the dish and my breakfast then being overcooked.
we did have an evening meal at the hotel which was good except for the fact it lacked atmosphere with only us in the dining room throughout.

Overnight stay

The hotel did not have a car park although there was an ncp car park nearby which did allow you to park overnight.

the hotel was clean and the scottish breakfast very enjoyable, however the lift only went up one floor and was at the other end of the hotel and there was a long walk from the lift through various doors to the appropriate staircase to our room which was another six flights of stairs!

we were only staying for one night but any longer would have been a problem.

we also had the disadvantage of being in a room next to a couple who decided to have a very verbal and abusive argument at 2.00a.m. in the morning. we did mention this to reception in the morning when we were checking out. the receptionist did say sorry but that was all.
