Hotel Details

The lobby is medium in size and is very grand with many fine antique pieces of furniture, valuable paintings and elegant ceilings.

This is a traditional building, which was originally an official palace for the Bishops of Down and is a fine example of 19th century Scottish baronial architecture. The hotel stands in 12 acres of beautiful secluded gardens and woodland.

The 79 deluxe bedrooms contain all the facilities one would expect from this type of hotel. The rooms are in exceptional condition.. The decor continues with the overall elegance of the hotel and the bathrooms are particularly attractive.

The restaurant has the capacity to seat 150 diners, serving both table d'hote and a la carte menus. Its small marble dance floor, baby grand piano and beautiful view over the garden and coast make it one of Northern Ireland's most luxurious restaurants. There is also the less formal Cultra Inn which is set in the hotels grounds.

Nice location and original building

We had a nice friday night (including a wedding) and saturday stay here.

decor in good repair, all the local staff were most welcoming and gave you the feeling that nothing was too much trouble, however a few of the eastern european staff were not quite so helpful.

beautiful grounds and picturesque old buildings, slightly spoilt by new accomodation to the rear which clearly wasn't fussed over by the architect.

quite far from the city centre, but close to the belfast city (george best) airport.

all in all a nice retreat for the weekend (with excellent full irish breakfst included), but probably a little pricey.
