Cool retreat

Staying in london on the hotest day of 2013, the mandeville was literally a cool retreat. yes it has tready boutique decor but more importantly that day was the air conditioned room - a haven from the heat outside. great location for the shops and parks and the quickest check-in and out i've experienced.

Great hotel

We stayed here for 2 nights for my wifes birthday and everything was first class. the location is great, with a less than 5 minute walk to bond street tube and oxford street and marylebone high street even nearer. upon arrival all the staff were very friendly and helpful and straight away wished my wife happy birthday and a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite was a very nice gesture. the suite itself was a good size with a king size bed which was very comfortable, and a generous bathroom with a large walk in shower as as well as a seperate bath with shower too. due to refurbishment of the restaurant we had breakfast delivered to our room and the continental breakfast was really good with choices of fresh fruit, croissants, pastries, ham and cheese with fresh orange juice and coffee. the hotel is pricy, but most hotels in london are and it's worth paying a bit extra to get this kind of quality, service and location.

A superb hotel

I was recommended this hotel by a friend and was not disappointed. it's in a great location; two minutes from bond street station and oxford street. the staff couldn't have been more helpful and attentive, and i liked the fact they remembered our names! our room was small but beautifully presented; decor was clean and modern. bathroom again was small but this was outweighed by the power shower, which was fab! we had a continental breakfast each morning, the usual fruit, cereals and pastries. the bar area was bright, modern and funky! we didn't eat in the restaurant, instead we took advantage of the array of restaurants situated close by in st christopher's place.

Disappointing room!

Having booked a "superior" room i was disappointed to discover that a superior room was in fact the standard offering. the room, though nicely furnished, clean and comfortable was very, very small with a depressing view to the rear of the hotel. i might have expected two matching glasses in a double room! shower was possibly the best feature. breakfast was lovely but i was constantly asking for things such as the right cutlery and even finding someone to give my order to. housekeeping did find my glasses, unfortunately left behind, so not all bad

Nearly.....but not quite.

The mandeville is an ideal location for shopping or theatre breaks, just off oxford st and with plenty of nice looking restaurants within easy walking distance. the reception is small but has a modern feel and the staff gave a very warm welcome. our room was also very nicely decorated and had a super bathroom with a walk in shower but lacked a few finishing touches. the minibar was packed to the seams but there was no tea and coffe making facility in the room, i do like a cuppa when i wake up so this was disappointing. also the tv in the room was so small i could hardly see it when lying in bed, this was no good for watching match of the day as i couldn't see the ball!! our stay came with a continental breakfast which was ok but if i stayed there again i would definately upgrade to the full english as it looked really good. overall i'd say the hotel gave decent value for money but could easily be improved with just a little more thought.

Good location, friendly hotel!

We loved our hotel, it was friendly, welcoming and warm. we found it also very child friendly as we traveled with our 1.5 year old daughter. we upgraded to a deluxe double room to have more space for all of us. i loved the bathrobes and slippers but would have preferred coffee/tea making facilities in the room. it was a bit hard to get a nice temperature in the room as the airco/heating was a bit temperamental. the breakfast was well taken care of, fresh fruit, rolls, a variety of mueslis and cereal. and not unimportant lovely coffee. the only downside was due to a guest who found it necessary to block the toillet and flooded the room and hallway in the middle of the night, so they had to clean (vacuum) around 2 in the morning. they could not help it ofcourse and they apologized when we mentionened it the next day, but our night was ruined. i would stay here again, but only if we found a good deal again, never pay the full price.

Mandeville hotel

The prices in this hotel were very high, two drinks cost us £25! we went for a special occasion but unfortunately the feeling of being ripped off ruined it for us. we had a standard double room and it was like a box, there was barely enough room to walk around the bed. the location however was brilliant.

Mandeville in july

The mandeville is an excellent location. we arrived on a very hot day, and the whole building is efficiently air-conditioned. the (superior) room was very small, i wouldn't have liked to have been in a standard. the continental breakfast was good. we had a couple of drinks in the bar, and the prices were very high, even for a london hotel. there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and i missed that.

Peace in the city!

It is very difficult to find a quiet hotel right in central london but the mandeville is it. in spite of being 5m from oxford street and 1m from james street with all the lovely restaurants, it was the quietest hotel room i´ve had for a long time. the staff very very friendly and everything very clean although service at breakfast was sometimes slow. as i had a disabled guest with me it would have been nice to have disabled facilities in the bathroom, but we managed. prices in the bar are rather steep imo even for london but with so many great local tavernas we didn´t use it. most 4 start hotels do offer tea and coffee making facilities though which my elderly mother missed. other than that, a great hotel which i would certainly use again!

My hen weekend!

This hotel is in an ideal position - on the doorstep of oxford street & bond street and also close to bars, restaurants & clubs. the decor downstairs is very stylish & we loved it. some of the rooms are also decorated in this style but not all are as nice - we had 3 rooms and 1 was a little old fashioned and tired looking. the continental breakfast was fairly extensive and good quality but not a great choice of cereal! overall loved the hotel & would stay again - especially at such a reasonable price!

The man in red

We pulled up in our black taxi to be greeted by the man in red, he was so friendly as he opened the cab door and grabbed our bags welcoming us to the mandeville hotel. this level of pampering continued during our brief stay, reception staff were great and breakfast was just perfect. we enjoyed a room upgrade, the walk in shower was divine. we will be looking forward to staying in the mandeville when we visit london again. www.redcallsafety.co.uk ps the fire safety arrangments were great too.

Really enjoyed my stay. i'd rate the mandeville as one of the best hotels i've stayed in in london. the downside: small room, and no wifi. on the up side, the room was extremely clean (almost alpine air... i wonder if they use de-ionisers), and no stale smells in the corridors, etc. wonderful cappucino. great breakfast. great location for me: very central.

New years stay at mandeville

We were pleasantly surprised at the high standard of the hotel. we paid the same for the mandeville as we did for the selfridge which we stayed at 4 weeks earlier and there was no comparison!! i thoroughly recommend this hotel for the location, high standard of fittings and staff friendliness, i would point out though that the bar prices are hideous, higher than claridges and the sanderson (and thats saying something)!the continental breakfast was a bit hard going, took 4 attempts to get some toast and my coffee was served stone cold, but that was probably just bad luck on my part
