Deevana (plaza - not patong which is another place!)

Not quite what they promise, but pretty darn good. this is patong, sleezy underbelly of tourism in thailand. a short hot humid walk from bangla rd (if you want to face the taxi touts and the endless stores selling crappy stuff) and an even shorter walk to the beach (where you get to swim in a beautiful warm ocean but have to be wary of paragliders, boats, jetskis, etc)

look - it's a nice hotel, comfortable, a little tired and well-worn, but what do you want in a town that was presumably once very nice (look for the beautiful colonial architecture hidden behind a spider's web of electric cables and extended portico roofs), but now is overextended and seedy!

What i thought about my stay in devanagari plaza

I was very disappointed with my stay. my room was not cleaned untill 3-4 pm in the afternoon when i wanted to go back after being out of my room all day. it was never restocked adequate , we always had to call reception and ask for what was missing, or not enough towels for the 3 people in the room, we never had one flannel untill two days before we left!
the restaurant on many occasions had cockroaches running around and under the food trays, the flies were in abundance in the food!
we were in a group of 13 all of which were my family, so we wanted to sit together by the pool, we were told we could not put towels and reserve beds although we saw this happening with other clients. we observed rats running around the gardens of the swimming pool, i have taken photos. so unfortunately my stay was not what i expected for the price i paid.
