At Southdowns Fitness Centre we pride ourselves in having some of the most amazing state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment from Precor. With an integrated entertainment system on which you can watch the latest sport or listen to some music, a cardio workout has never been this enjoyable. Our cardiovascular equipment includes the following: •Treadmills •Adaptive Motion Trainers •Elliptical Cross trainers •Recumbent Cycles •Upright Cycles •Rowers At Southdowns Fitness Centre we have the best of the Precor strength training range. This includes the exceptional Icarian plate loaded strength range, the Infinity Line and the Contura range. The machines feature the same exercises as traditional pin-selectorised equipment, so you can experience the workout movement and control you are used to, including converging and diverging motions, with the liberating feeling of free weights. We also have a complete free weight area where you can get back to basics which consists of dumbbells, barbells and Olympic weights. So it does not matter why you want to swim – our 25m indoor heated pool is perfectly suited to all your needs. Pilates improves mental and physical well-being, increases flexibility, and strengthens muscles through controlled movements done as mat exercises or with equipment to tone and strengthen the body. Spinning exercise classes usually consist of about 12 to 15 people; classes range from 45 to 60 minutes and are set to music. The instructor takes the class on a ride that includes all types of terrain that produces a great spinning workout. All you'll need is workout clothes, a towel (to wipe your face) and a water bottle. Spinning bikes have toe clips so you can wear tennis shoes. But many pedals also work with Shimano-style SPD cleats. Our change rooms are spacious with lockers in which you can safely store your valuables. The showers at Southdowns Fitness Centre are like a home shower. You have a shower all to yourself and you don’t have to share it with anyone! There are also steam rooms in both change rooms in which you can relax after a hard training session.
Exterior
This 120 year old working dairy farm offers another relaxing aspect to our guests, with a private entrance gate for our in-house guests this 100m walk from reception makes access very convenient. On the farm you can learn about milk, but the farm also offers an additional two restaurants, picnic options as well as a well stocked deli shop, that offers an array of lovely treats as well as amazing gifts to take home to the loved ones. Here we recommend you try the best “milktart” (a local delicacy) in town. We conveniently made it possible so that our guest can purchase items here and sign the bill back to their room account back at the hotel.
Rooms
This superb 140 m2 suite comes with a Chef and Butler who are on standby 24 hours a day to look after your every need. Our Chef can make your choice of meal in the comfort of your suite. The fully equipped Kitchen in the suite is conveniently stocked for your arrival. Hidden away in our amazing natural forest, boasting an inside and outside lounge, a dining area that can seat up to 8 guests. The Presidential Suite is situated adjacent to our superior rooms for additional accommodation requirements. High loft ceilings give that additional sense of space. The Master bedroom leads out to a private balcony where one can listen to the over 60 different species of birds identified on the property.
Location
Irene itself is a suburb of Centurion which is conveniently situated between Midrand and Pretoria. Making the travel to the Union Buildings in Pretoria a mere 15 min drive away and the travelling to Sandton in Johannesburg a mere 30 min drive, and now with the new GAUTRAIN (with a station in centurion), Gauteng’s state of the art rail system for “People on the Move” these journeys are even more convenient.
