This is an absolute gem of a hotel with beautiful 1930's features and modern comfort working well together
near enough to the centre to walk but far enough away to gain a quiet stay
our room was perfect
but
the thing that made this a superb hotel was simply the staff - all did their jobs smoothly, and could not help more. well done to them all !!

Incredibly helpful multilingual staff (i heard one receptionist speak fluent english, french and italian), lovely spacious rooms with good strong showers, gorgeous art-deco building, convenient location, lots of choice for breakfast, lovely lounge area, and reasonbly priced - all in all a great stay. will definitely try to stay here again next time.
be aware there is not a reatuarant in the hotel for lunch or evening meals, but plenty of good eateries nearby.

We stayed 3 nights here in oct/nov 2013 and wished we could have stayed longer. all staff were friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and beautifully appointed with portuguese art deco fittings and furnishings. buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious, served with a quiet background of piano music. the many 'little' extras they give here really add to the experience, like the free wifi, being able to print out documents for free, the good quality white tea and delicious pastries provided free every early evening. the location is excellent, in a quiet street right next to avenida da liberdade and just a ten minute stroll from rossio and restauradores.

Very helpful staff. as we stopped just after turning off avenida, from the metro, a porter asked if we were looking for the hotel and if so could he take our bags. nice touch. receptionist friendly but seemed a bit preoccupied with explaining which tour buses we should talk than the fact that the room safe needed a key or giving us the wi fi address. bar man that night really friendly and informative.
this is an old converted building so there is plenty of space. the bedroom was really big. also very quiet despite being street facing (quiet street) and only second floor.
not too far from the main sites, especially given the available nearby metro station.

This is a well-run small hotel very centrally located close to the metro station and the major sights. the front desk provides excellent friendly service. they have a very nice buffet breakfast with items that are not displayed available upon request. they also serve a free 5 o'clock tea with good selection of teas and pastries. the espesso machine is avaible for guests at any time. the rooms are big, well furnished, with a large bathroom stocked with high quality toilet supplies. the hotel provides robes and slippers.

This beautifully preserved 1940's art deco hotel is conveniently situated near avenida metro just two stops from the centre of downtown lisbon. the airport bus also stops at avenida. our room was spacious, spotless and comfortable - the complementary decanter of port a nice touch. the continental breakfast was fresh and tasty. although there is not a restaurant for evening meals at the hotel the nearby cerverjaria ribadouro is a good choice and there are many places just a hop away in downtown. the staff are courteous, freindly and helpful - especially when helping us when we lost a wallet (ps be very careful on the trams). lisbon itself is a wonderful city, lots to see and do for young and old, good food and wine, easy to get around and very freindly as well.
the hotel is not cheap but it is value for money in our view. the only people i would not especially recommend the hotel for are families with young children.
