Restaurant
Casa da Calçada’s Largo do Paço Restaurant is justly renowned and has been awarded a Michelin star, the only in Northern Portugal. It regularly wins international and Portuguese awards for its modern, innovative cuisine that is steeped in local gastronomic traditions and ingredients. It has a good à la carte choice, including vegetarian and children choices and several tasting menus that allow you to experience the full range of the chef’s ability. The sommelier is at hand to suggest the perfect wine, including those produced in the hotel’s own vineyard, to accompany your meal. The decoration is opulent and cozy, with red and gold tones predominating. Make yourself comfortable in the brocade armchair and prepare yourself for a feast. Start with pigeon breast with toasted pine nuts, then some mussels and tempura octopus. For the main course, what about slow roasted suckling pig and mashed sweet potatoes, balsamic onions and eau de vie sauce? Or a dish combining lobster, scallops and black grouper? And to end what about some “electric” citrus sorbet or creamy dark chocolate cake with a red berry sorbet and raspberry sauce? The Tâmega Bar is as sumptuous as the rest of the hotel. Large stuffed armchairs invite you to relax in comfort, or enjoy the enchanting views over the river and the village from the large outdoor terrace; a truly magical spot both during the day and at night. The Largo Cerqueira's Bar offers a bar service by the pool area during the summer. And if you have difficulty imaging something more precious than the panoramic views bathed in the special light of sunset, imagine enjoying all of this with a bottle of chilled sparkling wine produced from the surrounding vineyards.
