The lobby and reception area are very small but cosy, the decoartion has kept many of the original features of this lovely building such as the low ceilings and the large wooden beams on the ceiling very well preserved and still is full use. The Literary Man Obidos used to be a monastery and its construction dates back to the feudal times of Portugal. The hotel is surrounded by traditonal buildings very similra in style " alentejo " white outer walls with blue edges.

The bedrooms are large and traditonally decorated and they have kept the original furnishings belonging originally to the nuns. Cast iron framed beds and hand painted furnitures.

The restaurant is an extention of the building but built and decorated in harmony to the rest of the building ie. The medieval ceiling and pillars made of fine sandstone. The cuisine is traditonal and very well presented and served with a fine selection of wines and spirits.
