The Walvis Bay Lagoon is a RAMSAR site and the most important coastal wetland in southern Africa. It is home to a large numbers of resident species and way station for African and Palearctic migrant birds. It is also famous for its thousands of Lesser and Greater Flamingo, and has been listed by RAMSAR as a natural heritage site.
