Being amongst the oldest farmhouses in the Val di Cecina, it is assumed that I Reucci was built towards the late 16th century. It is situated panoramically on top of the hill from which it takes its name – “Poggio ai Reucci”. According to previous historical research done on the farmhouse and its surroundings, it is estimated that the first settlement in this area dates back to Etruscan times. In 2001, when the restoration work began, it was a completely abandoned ruin, uninhabited for more than half a century. The restoration was carried out by re-using much of the original materials. The furniture and fixtures are made of solid wood, the interior design and colours have been chosen so as not interrupt the continuity with their external environment. A particular gem is the old barn, which, once buried by the hill above, today is a charming two bedroom apartment. The swimming pool is located in a panoramic position with a view of the Rocca Sillana. In spring and autumn it is heated with geothermal steam.
