Discover Cortina D'ampezzo - BellunoCortina d'Ampezzo is a town in the province of Veneto, northern Italy. Located in the Dolomites at an elevation of 1,210 m, it is a popular winter sport resort. Probably among the three most exclusive mountain locations in Europe, the town of Cortina is known for its first-class hotels and shops.
During the summer and winter holidays, it is a tradition to go for a walk on Corso Italia where all tourists go for shopping, but most of all to see and to be seen (a great italian tradition). The surroundings of Cortina were the location for some movies like Cliffhanger starring Sylvester Stallone, the 007 movie -For your eyes only- and The Pink Panther starring David Niven and Peter Sellers. Cortina d'Ampezzo was the host town of the 1956 Winter Olympics. The 1944 Winter Olympics were also scheduled to be held in Cortina, but were cancelled because of World War II. Close to Cortina d'Ampezzo is San Vito di Cadore.
