General
This elegant hotel offers its guests a combination of Balinese architecture and hospitality. The building was once a guesthouse for the Balinese royal family. Founded in 1928 during the heyday of round-the-world tours the hotel is set in an area which inspired holy man Resi Markandya to build the nearby Besakih Temple, considered by the Balinese to be the centre for worship and ceremony. Guests may witness the living devotion of the Balinese to the gods, symbolised through daily offerings of rice, fruits, flowers and incense in the local Tjampuhan Temple. The hotel comprises a total of 63 cottages, an entrance hall, 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, TV room and laundry and room services.
