The location of this hotel could hardly be better, being right next to the elizabeth bridge, and in between the two halves of the busy vaci utca. it is in easy walking distance to many of the major attractions on either side of the river, and for excursions further afield the metro and tram/trolley bus system is easy to use and very cheap.
the first impression of the hotel is a bit off-putting, as there is currently some refurbishment being carried out, so the entrance is by a side door. the reception area is fine, and there is free internet access available. the staff are friendly and very helpful, and speak good english (amongst other languages). use the safety deposit box is free.
the rooms are newly refurbished and nicely decorated. there was a fridge in the room, and the tv had channels from a number of countries.
breakfast was very good, with a good choice of options.
the restaurant attached to the hotel (where breakfast is served) is beautifully decorated in mediaeval style, and the menu for dinner includes an excellent choice of hungarian dishes. a six-piece gypsy band plays in the restaurant from 7pm every day, and there are frequent displays of traditional dance by local youngsters....not to be missed.
