The two-star Hotel Pousada Pedra Brabo is a rural guesthouse situated in the heart of a crater at the foot of the Pico de Fogo volcano, in the village of Cha das Caldera. With the imposing Pico Grande towers in front, with the ancient crater rim behind it, the brick building sits perfectly in its surrounds with a beautiful green courtyard and is ringed by volcanoes. An extra-special ambience is created by this unique setting. With 12 rooms, two are en-suite, and the others share six bathrooms and four shower rooms, and all are air-conditioned. They surround a pretty courtyard and are all comfortably but simply furnished, with TVs and high-speed internet. The electricity is switched off at 10pm every night, so it is advisable to bring a torch. Also, there is no hot tap water, but a bowl can be requested. The Hotel Pousada Pedra Brabo offers free car parking and an outdoor swimming pool. The French owners promise great food in the restaurant, after enjoying a drink in the bar. There is a good road to Sao Filipe, the island capital and airport, and there are also buses.
