Good location

This hotel is down a very narrow lane which is easy to miss. it was in a very quiet location. the room was very large and comfortable. bathroom was also very spacious and clean. breakfast was good with plenty of choice. plenty of eating places nearby and the water buses were at the top of the lane. very close to railway station.

A venetian gem

A haven of peace less than 5 minutes walk from the railway station or vaporreti stop [ferrovia] - don't worry about the comments about the bells. it's part of venice, and saves having to set a wake up call. wonderful welcome from matteo and colleagues on reception; great humour. genuine concern when my wife was ill one morning. we had a superior room, very spacious, clean, ac, safe, well equipped. great room with rare view [for venice] of garden. plenty of choice at breakfast. fantastic public room. we will go again.

Great value hotel

We enjoyed a wonderfully comfortable and peaceful stay at the abbazia. ok-the church bell rang early in the motrning but added to the charm of venice and we didn't want to delay getting out and about anyay. staff were friendly and helpful. breakfast very good for a three star city hotel and the room was very comfortable, clean and welcoming. the hotel iteself was charming. we would recommend this hotel without reserervation.

Great location

As soon as we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. the room was small but clean. we had a roof leak in the bathroom and were upgraded to a bigger room. there was also a bottle of sparkling wine on ice waiting for us, what a nice surprise! the continental buffet breakfast was good and you can have breakfast in the garden if you wish. we really enjoyed our 3 day stay in abbazia and we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone to stay there. the train station and bus terminal were just a short walk away and so was the water bus terminal. we will definately stay there again in future.

Abbazia hotel - a first choice in venice

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the railway station and the price. this location was combined with a peaceful environment (which has not always been our experience in venice!). the staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. the room (on the third floor) was reasonable, although the bathroom was a bit cramped. the breakfast buffet was great, with the added opportunity to eat in a secluded garden. the lounge/bar, in the large hall originally used by the monks/nuns who lived there was really comfortable. the one drawback for us was having a room on the third floor, with no lift. as one of us has breathing difficulties, we should have asked for a room on the ground floor. with this one reservation, we would make this hotel our first choice on our next visit to venice.

La dolce vita

This hotel could not be more central for transport purposes, around the corner from santa lucia train station and the vaporetto stop. the staff were friendly and very helpful the hotel is unique its appearence being a former abbey. but the room we stayed in had recently been modernised uncluding an incredible bathroom with double swower. the only problem would be for older people with walking difficulties, as the hotel does not have a lift.

Great little hotel in venice

The abbazia is a great find. it is near the train station so makes life easier when arriving - no carrying bags on and off vaporetti. it is beautiful building, a former convent built round that rare thing - a garden in venice. the simple buffet breakfast sets you up for a days sightseeing and there is a bar in hotels huge lounge for a final nightcap. the rooms are quiet apart from the morning church bells! the staff are extremely helpful and very knowledgable. this was my third stay here and i would happily return.

Abbazia hotel

The hotel is perfectly situated for the bus, rail stations & the water-buses. however, it was down a small alley and not easily found, but directions were happily given and we got straight there. the entrance is through a simple door which the hotel has tried to make better by dressing it up. once you are through the door the hotel really shows it's worth. you are hit with a lovely warm, scented atmosphere and the lounge is perfect. our room was nice, if just a little worn. the central light fitting was damaged and one of the curtains had been pulled off a hook and not replaced so it did hang down a bit. apart from the this the room was lovely. all staff were helpful and polite, particularly the reception staff who were very helpful and offered good advice and assistance that made our stay very very enjoyable.

Good location

Good location for the vaporettas, bus and train station. lucky to have one of the few bridges over the grand canal within 100m. bus transfer from airport to hotel was €3 and the bus station is only five minute walk to the hotel. bedroom was cosy with limited closet space but we were only having a 3 night stay so didn't have much to store away. very clean and comfortable. coffee at breakfast was like sludge and the tea was dishwater but plenty of fruit juice or water available. bar prices in the evening were very cheap and i'd recommend taking your night cap back in the air conditioned comfortable lounge area.
