When our dear friends invited us for lunch, we immediately fell in love with their beautiful home by the lake. Casa na Terra is a spectacular conversation between architecture and earth. The house is something to discover and enjoy and share with others. It is like stumbling upon a treasure, barely visible within its own surroundings. It seemingly melts into the earth while simultaneously emerging from it. Amid the rolling green hills, the only visible elements of the building are the patios and a large dome that links the interior rooms with the outdoors. The house offers 3 ensuite rooms, brightened by adjoining private patios. The kitchen and living area open up to the grand patio, offering majestic views of the property and the beautiful Alqueva lake. The dome, seemingly cut from the hillside itself, is at the home’s center and the natural gathering place for guests.
