Overnight gig trip

We were a group of 4 friends who were going to see a band in edinburgh. this hotel was just what we wanted, somewhere cheap and cheerful for a sleep after a night out. rooms were clean, reasonably spacious and bright and airy. would stay here again.

1 breakfast for a booking for 2?

The place was fine. just surprised that after being told on arrival we had 2 breakfasts included for the next morning, we woke up to 1 breakfast and the explanation we only had 1 with our booking. to would expect booking a hotel for two would mean two continental breakfasts not one. it was frustrating seeing as we were in a hurry to catch a train!

Comfortable and warm for a two-star hotel. dust around the bases of furniture and central heating radiator pipes. base of whb pedestal could have been cleaner. packed breakfast was very nice.

Great location, value for money, lovely staff

Went on a girly weekend. fab location, staff lovely, clean, no frills, great value for money. careful hotelsclick description - there are no twin rooms. the hotel has told hotesclick this already - several times. they have only double rooms. there is also no scottish breakfast ! there is no dining room, brekkie is continental and delivered to your room in a box. staff cant be helpful enough, they are lovely. tram works outside hotel until next summer but its only a small bit inconvenient. great location for getting to and from airport as airlink bus stops at the adjacent road. manned reception 24 hours. no check in until 3pm but you can pay £10 extra to get into your room before 3pm. check out good at 12pm.

Arrived at 12 noon. no receptionist in sight. a lady who said the receptionist had just gone told us our room was ready but we would have to pay £10 for checking in 'early'(before 3 pm). this was 'standard' of the hotel and should be written on our confirmation (which it was not!!). we were also not allowed to leave our luggage until we finally could check in - meaning that we had to trail for 3 hours with our luggage through edinburgh.
the room was quite empty, however clean enough. though our booking with you said 'scottish breakfast'we got a cardboard box containing a few items thought to be our breakfast. if this is their standard breakfast then you should mention it on your booking confirmation! the lift broke down the second afternoon - bad for me in the third floor with crutches for a broken leg and the reception desk was hardly ever 'manned'. you might have guessed it: we will certainly never go back to this hotel!

Certainly not value for money!

We all know travelodge's are not the best but for £107 a night you expect not to get the worst they have to offer. damaged rooms, broken tv and also a room in which you could not swing a cat. avoid shandwick place at all costs.

incidentally no way is this a 3 star uk hotel, no way!

Pleasent stay in clardendon from people staying from ireland

Stayed in the clarendon hotel for three nights and found it a lovely hotel. the staff was very helpful and friendly and it was so convenient to everything.. major sightseeing places and to princes st. would highly recommend it to anyone visiting edinburugh.
