Once a Norman Fortress the hotel has been welcoming travellers since the 12th century.
Rooms
The hotels bedrooms are all individually decorated and furnished to a high standard in a traditional elegant style. All the bedrooms are large in size and in very good condition. The bathrooms are medium in size and in excellent condition, all with bath and shower.
Restaurant
The Restaurant is on the ground floor, elegant and formal, serving excellent english and international cuisine. The newly decorated restaurant has a Michelin star and has won a host of other awards including "Best outside of London" in Tatlers Restaurant Awards 2002. Alternatively, there is a contemporary brasserie with its starlit dome and fibre optic lit dome with great food in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Location
The hotel is situated in Taunton's town centre in the heart of Somerset, which is only 2 miles from exit 25 of the M5 and only a few mintes from the train station. This is the perfect base for exploring the magnificent countryside that surrounds this area from the rolling Quantock Hills to the Somerset Levels, one of Europe's last great wetlands.
