Smart convenient london hotel, 4 minutes from euston station

The thistle hotel, euston, is 4 minutes walk from london euston. it is ideal for someone from the northwest wanting a place to stay after a visit to london. the price included breakfast.

Hotel excellent. breakfast very good, but be nice to have a few extra items on the hot stuff. the drinks are a little pricey at the bar, but it is london.

Decent hotel for a stopover

We were looking for a fairly cheap but reliable hotel for a one-night stopover in central london . this fitted the bill. the hotel is in a bit of a dismal road at the side of euston station, but inside it is well appointed and clean with a good welcome. the rooms are not that large, and lacked any tea/coffee making facility, but apart from that the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and well appointed. breakfast was also good, although longish queues developing by 9.00am. altogether good value for money for its central location.

Great location

Hotel ideally placed for euston station being just 200 yards away. booked into hotel and left our bags (free of charge) and walked 1.4 miles to trafalgar square. hotel close to tube station but as the weather was wonderful we decided to walk. hotel very clean, bright and modern and staff very welcoming and helpful. rooms, clean and comfortable. breakfast had a very good choice to offer. bar prices fairly reasonable for london. would definitely stay again and would also recommend to others.

2 night break in london

We chose this hotel due to its immediate proximity to euston railway station so that we did not have far to carry our cases from the train. hotel was willing to keep our cases before check in and for rest of the day after check out thus enabling us to use our holiday time to the max. our executive room was very clean and spacious and thanks to you we got a bargain price.we took breakfast there and this service was efficiently run, well cooked and good variety. the only fault, if pressed to find one, was that there was not a swimming pool

Weekend break

I booked this weekend break for my wife and myself,as a little treat. we went to see the lion king which was fantastic. the hotel was very central, it was very clean and inviting. the breakfast ( which was included in the price) was really good. we also had an evening meal in the restaurant which we really enjoyed and the price was very similar to outside restaurants. we would definatley stay here again.

2 star

Reception is disorganised and decline even to sign you in if you arrive before 14.00 hours. do not suggest that you wait in the coffee shop nor advise that you may leave your luggage prior to 14.00 hours. as a consequence a long line of dissatisfied patrons completely blocked reception. our room was very small double bed against a wall, no face cloth in bathroom, minimal toileteries. breakfast poor, very cheap bacon, cheap sliced bread for toast, not good quality fruit juice. this hotel is not 4 star and for the quality is over priced. marcus catling

Tired looking rooms and corridors - needs some tlc.

Complimentary upgrade on arrival to a superior room - the room was not very clean, dirty wet towel from previous guest over side of bath! tea tray was filthy with stains and the desk had so much dust around it - this hadn't been cleaned in a long while. mirrors and shelves were equally dusty. not impressed.

Over night stay

A very convenient place to stay if you're travelling in to london from the north. being able to leave the luggage at the hotel made life much easier, we only had to collect the cases just before we went off to the station. the room wasn't too large but it was adequate and the small complaints about the heat and being able to hear what was going on in the connecting room next door didn't spoil our stay.

Not good not bad

The hotel needs modernising the windows are metal and they do not keep the noise out. the rooms were a little small, and the bathrooms need modernising, the shower was ok. the other thing was when the hotel was busy the breakfast was not cooked properly the eggs were not fried properly at times. the hotel was clean and the staff very helpful though, i think this hotel needs urgent renovation to make it more welcoming.ps i got reported for trying to close the window at night by another guest, as i said they are metal and metal makes a noise.

Pleasant stay

This was an excellent location. having read some poor reviews we were a bit apprehensive. we had a deluxe room on the fourth floor. we were pleasantly surprised. the room was very clean and spacious. the only thing was that the furniture was a bit tired and the toilet was backing up a little - could do with upgrading. however the bed was very clean and comfortable. breakfast was very good and service very organised and efficient.

Thistle

Public areas of the hotel were fine, but the decor in the room was extremely shabby. all the paintwork was chipped and the wallpaper was old, tatty and dirty. the room was cramped for a double, and was adjacent to the hotel's aircon fans which were extremely noisy. having to have the windows shut meant that the room was always very hot and stuffy. price was quite expensive compared wth other similar hotels.

Disappointing

I booked a deluxe room for my husband and i as it was my birthday and it was about the size of a rabbit hutch, definitely not 4* we had stayed in 3 thistle hotels, thistle barbican, thistle euston and tower thistle liverpool, within 5 days and i can say that the liverpool tower thistle was 100% more superior to either of the other 2 hotels and massively cheaper. i would not go back to either of the london hotels.

Hotel good eventually

The website here actually got the booking wrong with the hotel. after spending 30 minutes getting this put right at the hotel, the hotel sent us to 3 rooms before they even got it right. the rest of teh stay was excellent, clean, polite and an excelent breakfast. just make sure you take a copy of yoru booking form or our double room would have ended up as a single.

Thistle hotel in london euston - review (feb 2009)

Reception good, nice staff and a modern feel. restaurant equally nice, with modern feel and comfy seating. breakfast ok with plenty of chioce and a 'help yourself to whatever' atmosphere (fruit, cereal, bacon, sausage and the full works) staff are great and always on hand to offer more tea or coffee and toast. rooms are a little on the smaller side, but tidy, modern, with flat screen lcd tv.... and ok bathroom being a decent size (if the bathroom wanting a little tlc in places, such as around the bath tapes needing a better scrub down) overall - a decent place to stay. location great especially if you arrive on at euston train station, as literally two minutes down cardington road. also close to oxford street (10 min walk) and all the major city centre sites (all about a 10 to 20 min stole away) the only negative point of view was the check out time. the hotel literature states 12 noon, but the room service team, was eager for us to 'depart' by 11. we felt a little pushed out of the door, and made a comment to reception to reflect that. they were obviously too keen to turn the room around for more guests.
