Good hotel

Hotel is really good. draw back is post code will take you somewhere else. however receptionist will guide you to right direction. rooms are clean nice location just need to look after certain things which are negligible

Lovely setting

Really enjoyed stay at this hotel. underground just around the corner so couldn't have been a better location. received free upgrade to dean's lodge thought the room was lovely. bed soft so not ideal for everyone but fine for me. interior in the main building is stunning. booked for cold buffet breakfast which needed replenishing at times but staff were helpful and pleasant when asked, so no problem. i would definitely stay here again.

Happy sisters

Hi, the barn hotel in west end road, ruislip is really lovely. the grounds are very well kept, our room no. 18 was lovely, brilliant bedding, beautiful bathroom, all so clean. good heating, lovely crockery, couldn't fault it. the breakfast (continental) was ample and very very nice. the full english is massive and very well cooked. the dining room and bar are so nicely decorated, love all the carved wood. carpets all spotlessly clean. very good place to stop, will definitely go there again if in the region. well done to all the staff, very pleasant, friendly and happy....

Lovely stay

Only one tiny fault - bathroom a bit on the small side. perhaps just a shower instead of a bath/shower would be better. other wise could not faul tin any way.

One night wedding guest sleep over

Enjoyable stay. a great hotel, our room had a nice outlook, was comfortable, tastefully decorated, well designed, shame about the thin walls, apart from we had a comfortable stay and would return.

Barn ruislip

We were very impressed with the barn at ruislip and cannot fault the service during breakfast but we were very disappointed with our room. on entering it smelled of cigarette smoke and even after opening the windows we could still smell it. the towels were in the wardrobe and these also smelled of cigarette smoke. there was a smoke detector in the room so we could not understand why the hotel let this room as a "smoking room" as we were told when we e mailed them. there was no mention of smoking rooms when we booked and as non smokers we would never have booked under those conditions.

Beautiful hotel

Good base to explore london from the midlands. just 10 minutes from m40. hotel next to tube station. left car at hotel then went into london for the day without worrying about extortionate parking fees. then had good nights sleep and breakfast before off exploring again. lovely preserved hotel which leaves you feeling you have travelled back in time. good grounds and large, well stocked fish pond.

Bad weekend

Would not recommend this hotel. wouldn't stay here milldew in bathroon, wall paper coming off walls, uncomfortable bed. not much choice left on saturday morningfor breakfast although we went within the advertised times. we had to leave car at relatives and get a taxi back as there was no room in the car park on saturday night.

The bathroom seems to have had a new suite without being retiled so the bath is not sealed so one can have a shower without water damage. plastic tiles have been used to try and bridge the gap and they are a mess. the hotel should not have accepted this work from anybody.

This is more a motel

My husband and booked in for a couple of nights, found it difficult to actually find the barn as it is directly off a roundabout then down a small private road, unfortunately the old sign is not illuminated and difficult to see in the dark. reception area seemed nice, but we were taken aback to be directed out into the pouring rain to access our room which was in the grounds - i thought this was a hotel not a motel, so be prepared to wear your shoes and coat when going for breakfast - we didn`t bother but got in the car and ate elsewhere. the entrance to the building housing our room was off putting, the door was left on the snib so anyone could wander in, the carpet immediately in the hall was worn through despite the fact it was a hardwearing door matt - so goodness only knows how old it was! the room was clean and warm; the soft furnishings and bed look new, the other furniture had seen better days with no dressing table mirror (a first for any hotel room ive visited!). the bathroom was definately smelly, the toilet wouldn`t flush unless you took the cistern top off and jiggled the valve. altogether a very disappointing stay.

Good value close to london

A lovely hotel, with lots of character and nicely renovated. the room was a decent size and clean. we were very happy to be in the building right at the back as there were parties going on friday and saturday night, so we were well away from the noise. our only complaint was the creaking floorboards above us. when the occupants of that room came back in the early hours of the morning it was impossible for us to sleep. we would recommend future guests to request upstairs rooms!

Great except for the rooms!!!!

Everything about this hotel was lovely except for the rooms. the staff were friendly, polite and efficient. the attractive dining room was staffed well and the breakfast we had was very good. the rooms were very disappointing. clean but very small. the en-suite bathroom had a concertina door which didn't close properly. the double bed was up against the wall which meant i had to crawl down the bed to get in and out when my husband was asleep, which was something to laugh about in morning!!

A nice stay

We stayed in a 'garden room' which was a nice change as the door opened straight up onto the pretty garden and no horrible hotel corridors.

Short break in london

I have stayed at the hotel previously so was aware of what to expect. hotel is ideally located (underground nearby)if you have a car and don't want to drive into london. staff are helpful and breakfast is good. as a single person i am aware that you get a small room. the aspect i would like to see improved is for a redecoration programme to be undertaken - inside and outside.

Very dissapointing to find that others were allowed to check in early when we were not .the reason being that they had given priority to people going to a wedding !i undersatnd this but we also has an important meeting to go to excellent driving location coming from the north . close to underground

Stay in ruislip

I really enjoyed my overnight stay here. although the room we were in was rather small and we had quite noisy neighbours, the hotel grounds were very luxurious and welcoming. loved the big raging fire in the very grand hallway near reception. very good price for our stay . we would come back again

Not fit for my dog!!!

Room 40 was cleanish but very dated, it felt like walking into my nan's house with all the dated accomodation and the smell of old!! broken sliding door to the bathroom, mould everywhere, a male staff member was very rude to us when returning to the hotel on the saturday evening. room service was uneatable(a range of sandwiches past 10pm they offer)... all they had was chicken and mayo, which they toasted because it was probably someone's left overs. i know we had a standard room but that takes the piss.

Good hotel - very reasonably priced

Stayed here for one night only following the wedding of a friend. food at the wedding breakfast buffet was good and there was plenty to eat. breakfast was also fine, although there didn't seem to be much organisation in the dining room when we arrived, so we just sat down at a vacant table. other people ended up eating in the adjacent lounge. another wedding at the venue had a rather loud disco when we arrived back at the hotel to go to bed, but finished at midnight and did not seem to prevent us getting a night's sleep, although the noisy neighbours along the corridor were a little trying! they accommodated my request for non-feather pillows (allergy i'm afraid), even though i didn't request them until late in the evening. would go there again.

The barn, ruislip - on highwaymans route

Hotel is a mix of beautiful, new and clean private and public rooms, with old style warmth and comfort, and some areas which are aging and still need fitments and furnishings updating (in places) which need some attention. it has to be remembered this hotel and buidlings date (in part) from the 1600's. attended for family celebration. table layout for function could have been better and furnishings aging. food and cleanliness could not be faulted. room adequate for price paid but would not have wanted to pay the full rate for the bathroom which was tired and although clean needed updating. other family members were upgraded for unrelated reasons (due to other customers booking) and their rooms could not be faulted and were roomy and spacious etc. parking was 'busy' and limited due to other bookings/functions - but extra parking available nearby and very close to public transport for access to london or ruislip locality. plenty of space to park the next day. very close to high street for shops, other eateries, pubs etc

Barn hotel june 2007

We had our wedding reception here 18 years ago and returned for our anniversary. have to say we were a bit disappointed with the standards. the bathroom looked very tired and in need of a refurb and there were lots of places where the paint was peeling. very good value for money though.
