If you want a great little hotel to stay in with great facilities, then you couldn't go wrong with the siete isla hotel. - great price for what you get - in a side street off grand via, a 5 minutes walk to sol - great buffet breakfast (american or continental, it's all the same) - staff are very friendly and helpful - free wifi and there's a computer with free internet access at the reception if you don't bring your own laptop. - free mini bar, but don't get excited, 1 heineken beer and some free water, coke, juice + peanuts. re-stocked every day though. - it's in a red light street, but it's very close to the gran via that it's not a problem. - getting from the airport to the hotel is easy. take the line 8, airport line to "nuevos ministerios", then change on the blue line to go to "tribunal", then the light blue line one stop to "gran via". takes about 20 mins all up. you can buy a 3 day tourist travel pass for €11 or it's €2 for a ticket from the airport.
