Venice break

The hotel receptionist was welcoming on arrival but no-one showed us to our room and on entrying the room it was dark and unwelcoming. the furniture was very dark and old with scratches but the room was clean and there were many fluffy white towels in the bathroom. first impressions were poor but the bed was comfortable and the shower room adequate and clean. breakfast was good with plenty to eat, this was replemished as required.the square outside the hotel was busy at all times but this enhanced our stay. however in summer this may be too noisy if the windows were opened.
