Wonderful little hotel!

We have just returned from a three night stay at this beautifully restored hotel. the welcome was warm and friendly, and as we were quite early for check in, they offered to keep our bags for us while we went off for a couple of hours. when we returned after a wander and some lunch in a jewish café down the street, everything had been prepared and we were shown straight to our room. the room was lovely; large, clean, nicely decorated with a safe and complimentary water and toiletries.
the staff were friendly and attentive, with the receptionist and one waitress being particularly sweet and keen to make sure we were well looked after. the food was lovely, we ate breakfast every day from an extensive and varied buffet of cereals, fruit, selections of meat and cheeses, eggs and the like. there was also a menu to choose hot food from, such as bacon, sausages, omelettes and scrambled eggs. we also ate an evening meal there which was very reasonably priced and delicious.
the location was fantastic, in a quiet cobbled square in the centre of the jewish district, an easy 15/20 minute stroll from the main square, and other main tourist locations. on the square are two synagogues well worth visiting and a fabulous bookshop with literature in several languages. the hotel has a roof terrace with breathtaking views across the whole city.
the main road a couple of streets away provides easy access to the main tram routes. the river is also only a few streets away which provides a beautiful walk away from the hustle and bustle. there are plentiful restaurants, cafes and bars around for people to choose from, we almost had too much choice! the staff everywhere were friendly and attentive, and spoke varying levels of english, varying from basic "get by" to really very impressive, and we had no problems anywhere. in fact, i was embarrassed by my limited four or five word polish vocabulary! i will practise more for next time.
we went to auschwitz-birkenau with a company called krakow shuttle - they were fantastic and i would recommend them wholeheartedly. they also took us back to the airport when we left and the staff are efficient, friendly and above all, reliable!
i would definitely recommend both the city and the hotel to anyone and hope to visit again one day!
