Romantic morocco

For once, our experience at the palais salam hotel, taroudaant, surpassed all the publicity. from the wonderful smell of jasmine which greeted us on our arrival to the beautiful gardens and historic accommodation, we had the most luxurious time. on arrival, we aasked for a room in the old (nineteenth century) part of the hotel, and were given a free upgrade to the fascinating refurbished pasha'a suite, in true romantic, old moroccan style. the hotel's extensive old gardens - really a miniature oasis, with its own well, in the ramparts of this fascinating walled city - were full of banana, orange and rubber trees, and we swam in a lovely clean pool overlooked by all this greenery, and the spectacular city ramparts. polite and well-behaved cats will sit on you if you want them to (but not if you don't), and we breakfasted every morning outside by the tortoise pool. there was live moroccan music every night, the staff were wonderful, excellent food, and we would definitely use both the hotel and hotel click again. we were even given a room to store our luggage, and have a shower before we went home late on the last day. the only improvement we would suggest would be for an accurate telephone number and email address to be made available once we had booked - to arrange transport from the airport on arrival. it was impossible to obtain these in advance of arriving.
