At Mary-Ann's Polarrigg you will encounter the real Svalbard, both inside and outside the rough wooden walls.Mary-Ann’s Polarrigg offers basic, reasonably-priced accommodation to those who just need a place to stay during their Svalbard experience, and at the same time is also able to offer families, and those who like to indulge themselves, something really luxurious and different.No matter which standard you choose, your stay will be a pleasant one, with a cosy atmosphere in a place filled with Svalbard history.## LocationPolarriggen is situated on Skjæringa, a five minutes’ walk to and from the city centre of Longyearbyen.## RoomsThe mining rig is the main rig and it is also where you will find the reception. In addition, we have a large, comfortable TV lounge and access to the kitchen. The mining rig offers 17 single rooms and 14 double rooms with bunk beds and single beds. The rooms are of a basic standard with shared showers and toilets.The luxury rig is the latest addition to Polarriggen, which was completed in 2004. The rooms are furnished to hotel standard and have their own bathroom. Each room is unique and decorated in a cosy fashion, with a warm atmosphere. The luxury rig has five double rooms and four family rooms.The Suite - "Polar night", in the suite, you can live like a royal trapper. Relax after the day's adventures in the king-sized double bed, or eat fruit and drink champagne on the beautiful sofas.The suite has its own whirlpool bath. The suite is situated in the transportation rig.## FeaturesThere is a kitchen with a dining area where you can make your own meals.The TV lounge offers cable TV, several sofas and a large collection of literature about Svalbard.All guests have access to a washing machine, tumble dryer and drying cabinets.## Food & drinkEating breakfast in "Shang-Po-lar" can cause your mind to wander back to the old days of the miners in the tunnels and their pitch-black existence. Breakfast is served every morning between 07.00am and 10.00am.The Winter Garden is an experience in itself. Opened in 2004 the restaurant takes you into a world where the Arctic meets the Orient, where the midnight sun floods through the glass roof in the summer and where the amazing northern lights mysteriously wave in the winter.The outdoor, wood-fired bathtub "Rompa Bar" is popular in both the summer and winter months.
