Rome trip 2010

Only problem we had was being put in a room with a double bed for our first night. the hotel 'blamed' hotelsclick for mis advising them. once we were allocated a twin room next day we were more than happy. very clean, lovely breakfast and helpful staff. you may think that an hotel closer to the centre would be better. this is not the case as we virtualy fell out of bed onto the metro manzoni. by far the best metro station we found for ease of use, cleanliness and least busy. tickets could be purchased from reception.

Hotel milton - rome

Great hotel - very friendly reception staff - rooms a wee bit small and our wet room managed to overflow to the entrance hall carpet - but otherwise - price/quality ration - a good place to stay in rome. not chintzy or 1980's, which a lot of places in rome can be. probably opt for slightly better room than the standard. breakfast was good - good selection and staff always helpful. location is fine - everything is walkable from here - local restaurants slightly limited.

Hotel milton

Hotel was very good, clean and well located (metro just across the road, get a week ticket for 16 euro's, covers metro & buses). breakfast was open 7 to 11 am and was excellent. staff were friendly and helpful. all in all i would throughly recommended the hotel except for the noise from the street (no problem if you get a courtyard facing room). our room was by a main junction with traffic lights, we had trams, cars (italians still use their horns at 3.30 am!) and buses. the first night was very bad, then we started to get used to it (or just plain exhausted!). we were told that the hotel was getting an extra window in each room (triple glazing). this would help, but until this is done don't go unless you're deaf, noise doesn't bother you, or you get confirmation you will be facing the courtyard.

Fully recommend

The hotel milton is a very pleasant, exceptionally clean, newly refurbished, modern hotel situated on the outskirts of the historic centre of rome. although slightly out of the main tourist centre this was not an issue for us & likely the reason it was a fraction of the price of many others within the immediate centre. it was only a 10 - 20 min walk to most sights & the hotel is linked to most of these & the main train station by the metro line. the downside was the noise - although it did not keep us awake (we were way too tied for that after a long day sightseeing) it could be slightly annoying with the constant hum of traffic, police sirens & trams going past (the hotel is situated on a crossroads). however this is too be expected in a city & i doubt many places in rome offer peace & quiet. the breakfast was more than adequate - hot & cold buffet style with a plentiful supply of cereals, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, scammbled eggs, hams, juices, tea & coffee. i would fully recommend this hotel if you want good quality accomodation without being ripped off & don't mind being out of things slightly. there are plenty of decent restaurants & bars in the manzoni area so it is not laways necessary to go back into town to get a good meal.
