A night at the thistle

Overall very comfortable, not far from the station, and convenient for nearby offices. going down to the bar the night of arrival was a disappointment; very limited selection of drinks, awful instant coffee, and irritating muzak. room was comffortable and things worked, though the basin was cracked and needed replacing. breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choices of seating in the restaurant and a great view across the docks and the mersey.

Bed bug infestation ruined my stay

Atlantic tower hotel is ideally located opposite the liver bird building. our twin de-luxe room looked modern and comfortable and the breakfast was good. however, these were the only good points; there was a lot of noise saturday evening, which seemed to come from discos and then a lot of noise from other hotel visitors. above all though within 2.5 hours of going to bed i felt intense itching. when i checked my skin i was covered in bites. i had approximately 40 in total, on my feet, legs, lower back, arm and one on my hand. i reported this to reception and was given an alternative room. the hotel reported to me that rentokill visited the following wednesday and could not find any bugs. i question why i was so extensively bitten that night, why rentokill was not called to visit until 4 days after i reported it and if the same bed and bedding that i slept in was checked by rentokill. on trip advisor there is another review of a visitor being bitten in bed in june 2012. i will be registering a complaint. i am highly disgusted by this experience and will never return to a thistle hotel. i am also very concerned that the bed bugs could have travelled with me into my home.

Lovely stay

Booked one night standard room for good price and were really pleased. reception staff were so helpful and offered us a room with river view. room was spotless and had all facilities expected. the breakfast was the best we have had at any hotel. the staff in restaurant were attentive, polite and very friendly. a lovely stay and would not hesitate to return. my only critiscm is the reception area where check in could do with being revamped. that area looked slightly tired and would benefit from pictures or fruit/water.

Atlantic tower review

I was appalled to find that this hotel had no twin rooms available upon my arrival at approximately 15:00. my booking through hotelsclick.com specifically stated that i had a twin room and, furthermore, i had already telephoned the hotel to make sure that i would have such a room. our friends were booked into the holiday inn but, since they had no twin rooms left, we booked into the atlantic tower. what made it more annoying is that they just expected us to put up with the situation. they thought they could palm us off with a couple of drinks. i demanded that they sort the problem and, to be absolutely fair, they did. they booked us into the radisson - a better hotel not far away - at their expense. although we scored quite well, i was still annoyed at the thought of the many others (and there were a few in this situation) who just accepted such deliberate overbooking. i do not blame hotelsclick.com in any way. it was definitely the atlantic tower's fault. shame really, it looked a nice hotel and the room which they sent us to was nice and clean.
