Mixed feelings
This is really a beautiful hotel, and the location was great, a few minutes walk to one of gaudi's masterpiece "la pedrera" and to the catalunya place as well as the famous "rambla". you can take the "bus touristic" almost in front of the hotel. other good points: the personal is nice and efficient, the breakfast buffet really good, the rooms are clean. however it has to be noted that the hotel is divided into two parts: the old one with nice rooms and a new one (it can easily be noticed from the outside) where rooms are smaller. we were lucky enough to have a room in the old (renovated) part of the hotel. but this room was close to the lift and we were disturbed by the noise. we could also hear the noise from the other rooms as the rooms are not well isolated. considering the high price and the supposed 5 stars of this hotel, this should not be acceptable. as our stay was during a high period, it was not possible to change rooms. definitely, the majestic is closer to a 3 stars category than to a 5 stars hotel. beware: in barcelona, they seem to have too many tourists, overall the prices are higher than the service given, and they do not need to make much efforts as they know that, without any doubt, tourists will crowd the city at almost any time in the year.
