No room at the inn

We tried to check in at 2pm but was told to come back after 3pm as half the rooms weren't ready. they said we could leave our luggage. i'd already read a review saying it was just left unattended in the entrance so we declined. we then arrived back very tired and soaked through at 7pm to be told there wasn't a room available !! they said it was a very busy weekend. i don't understand how this can happen, we'd booked in january !!they'd booked us in at another hotel which was 10 minutes walk away. obviously we weren't walking anywhere so they called us a taxi. when we checked in at the north star they told us we had to go back to lynams the following day, but i refused and said once i unpacked i was not moving, so they called lynams who agreed we could just stay there for both nights. we'd picked lynams because of its location, we'd planned our weekend around getting to and from o'connell street, we knew bus numbers and times etc. having to move really messed up our plans. re the luggage, when we were waiting to check in at 7pm the receptionist left the hotel and went right across the room to fetch a taxi for another customer who'd been moved to another hotel. all the luggage that people had left was just left, unattended. there wasn't enough staff available to deal with the customers, especially as they were having to send people to other hotels.

Friendly, reasonably priced, great location.

Lynams is an old but quaint hotel. it had all the facilities required and was very comfortable. great breakfast and friendly helpful staff. it is ideally located - the bus from the airport dropped us practically at the door and we were close enough to all dublin has to offer including the nightlife, although far enough away to avoid any disturbance at night. only critisicm would be the lack of soundproof windows onto main road as early traffic was noisy.

Lynams hotel

Very central location. right in the middle of the city. room was clean but a bit small. the bed was very comfortable although sleeping was difficult with the traffic and general city noise outside. the bathroom was large and very clean. clean towels provided daily. the staff were helpful and the general ambience of the place was very easy going. a very relaxed atmosphere. we had the continental breakfast which was excellent. juice, cereal, toast, fresh fruit, yogourt, meats and cheese.
