This was a business trip, having to work for the european parliament, in session in strasbourg . working hours quite late, close to midnight, so totally at odds with the horrible noise of hotel renovation, starting at 8 a.m. breakfast included, in a rather compulsory manner, in the deal, but quite disappointingly, the only thing i would have cared for in the morning, a cup of espresso, was not part of the so-called continental breakfast, and had to be paid as an extra. this used to be a much more enjoyable hotel, before they started this seemingly endless wave of renovation, and changed the joyful colours in the rooms into a gloomy dark grey and black, including in the bathroom. some of the receptionists are quite nice and friendly, but one in them, in particular, a platinum blonde one, stands apart as a negative example. she can get very snappy and she has a pre-digested response to any complaint. it's always the guest's fault, of course!
